Building Community with SLM

 

SLM seeks to partner with organizations and individuals in the South Lansing community and beyond to combat hunger in our neighborhoods.  Any individual, business, company, church, club, etc interested in hosting a food drive for South Lansing Ministries can submit the interest form below, and we will be in touch with more information.

Programs

South Lansing Ministries provides basic human needs services to community residents in order to empower people and end poverty. Our volunteers participate in every aspect of our activities.  They transport, sort, stock, and distribute food and personal needs items.  They grow food for the food bank in our garden.

Food Bank

We are a partner of the Greater Lansing food bank. We serve an average of 250 individuals per month. If you are in need food, please call 517-853-8073 to schedule a pick up on Monday or Thursday between 10:00 am - 12 pm.

Personal Items

Our Personal Needs Closet provides person hygiene products, infant diapers, and  feminine hygiene products, and more.  These personal needs items are available to our clients when they pick up their order from our food pantry on Mondays and Thursdays.

Computer Assistence

Community members and clients use our computers and internet connection to complete job searches and applications, apply for benefits, and engage with their children's teachers.

The Computer Bank is open on an as-needed basis, Mondays and Thursdays, 10 am - 2pm.  Please call ahead to arrange use. 

Tomatillo Plant

Community Garden

We provide fresh produce in season from our Community Garden. Items include peppers, various types of tomatoes, zucchini, acorn squash, cabbage, kale, lettuce, swiss chard and several herbs.

Holding Phones

Information & Referral

We offer referral services for other needs, such as healthcare, utility assistance, and housing. We are members of the Lansing Christian Services Network.

Food & Personal Needs Donations

Donations Accepted

You can bring your food and personal needs donations to South Lansing Ministries on Monday or Thursday, 10:00 am until 2:00 pm, or schedule a different drop-off time by contacting us by email: southlansingministries@gmail.com
