About the event
An alternative gift fair provides an alternative to traditional shopping and arts and crafts fairs. At this one, also often called a “fair trade fair” the vendors sell fair trade products which are ethically produced and workers/artists are paid a fair price. The items sold are often made by artists in third world countries struggling to provide for their families, or maybe made by homeless in Detroit, or women rescued from trafficking. Or, as an alternative to a traditional gift, one can “purchase” goats, chickens, schoolbooks, baby boxes or other items, given to someone in need, in name of the intended gift recipient. For more information, visit Grace UMC's website or the Alternative Fair's Facebook page.
