Newsletter - Spring 2023

Updated: Jun 28, 2023

Notes from the Director's Desk:

With kids out of school soon for summer break, the need for food items intensifies. Children who are receiving free breakfast and lunch at school will now be eating at home. With grocery costs at a record high, this means that we will be seeing more people come to us for food assistance and personal needs items.

In Lansing, as in many areas around the state, more and more people are falling under the heading of “economically disadvantaged." This includes many of our senior population as well as college students. And as COVID-related emergency relief funds are ending for the area food bank, expenses for South Lansing Ministries' food orders are also on the rise.

If there is a group at your church who may be interested -- a missions group, Sunday school class, youth group, etc -- consider holding a food drive, or offering a monetary donation. $150 dollars can feed a family of four for 1 week. If you have any questions, or would like to know more, send us an email or give us a call at 517.882.0661
