Spearheaded by Michelle Taylor, a long time member of our Board of Directors, SLM decided to plant a garden so that we could provide fresh produce to our food pantry clients. After attending many training sessions and planting free seed from the resource center, we were off and working at our plot at the Alfreda Schmidt Community Center Garden. With minimum cost, but with lots of hard work from Michelle Taylor, Billy Jones, and other board members, the SLM garden provided green, banana and habanero peppers, various types of tomatoes, zucchini, acorn squash, cabbage, kale, lettuce, swiss chard and several herbs. Everyone seems to love the addition of fresh produce!
